It was a night to remember on Tuesday as our performers from Foundation to Year Two took to the stage. Thank you so much to the community and to all the staff for helping out on the night, it was definitely a team effort. A special thank you to Sally Baldock who coordinated the performances and to the Parent Club for organising the BBQ and stalls. As I looked around during the last song, I saw many parents with a tear in their eye. It was just so nice to see our students on stage with such confidence and excitement.

We observed our students during yard duty the other day and were impressed by the high level of compliance by our students in remembering their SunSmart hat in the yard. We need to be especially careful during high UV times as it does not take long in the sun for burning and skin damage to take place. Much better to take protective measures such as covering up, wearing sunscreen and wearing hats so that our students can enjoy the outdoors. A reminder to our community that students without hats in the yard will be sent to the designated sun protected area (two big trees at the front of the school). Another important reminder is for students to ensure they neatly store their hats in a secure area such as their bag or on their bag lockers during class time and make sure it is clearly labelled with their name so that it is returned to them if misplaced.

The Year Threes are having a ball at camp Jungai. They have heard from Aboriginal elders from the Taungurung Clan, painted boomerangs, experienced the possum pull and participated in grow it, cook it and eat it sessions. Thank you to Emilia Trajkovski and Mat Smith for their organisation of the camp. The team are enjoying the camp immensely. Thank you also to the additional staff who are helping out Chris Barker, Suzanne Khatib, Ben Moncrieff, William Meng, Kieren Reith, Jessica Bence, Diana Tuyau and Brendan Lehmann.

On Monday night parents came with their children to learn all bout sex ed. It was a very positive night with helpful information shared for all age levels. Thank you to the Parent Club for organising.

On Tuesday night our school stage band participated in the Victorian School Music Festival at Hawthorn Town Hall Boroondara Arts Centre. The band played two arrangements and received positive feedback from the adjudicators. Thank you to Mr Minshull for the many hours of rehearsal he commits to support our young musicians and for organising the event.

Have a great weekend,

Simone, Ben and Suzanne
