Each year school councils may schedule up to 5 student-free days (when student instruction does not occur) for professional development, school planning and administration, curriculum development and student assessment and reporting.

TheirCare provides our school community with exceptional Outside School Hours Care!
TheirCare provides an engaging and safe environment for all children. Children develop life skills, friendships, confidence and creativity through play-based programs.
The program is available for all children at McKinnon Primary School from 7:00am until 8:45am in the morning and from 3:30pm until 6:00pm each school day.
During School Holidays & Pupil Free Days, the service will operate from 7:00am until 6:00pm.

Parents’ Club
What are the benefits of being involved with Parents’ Club?
Firstly your child(ren) will be thrilled to know their mum or dad is involved at their school! You will meet many parents and make new friends and possibly learn new skills or share your skills with others. You can attend the monthly meetings to stay informed about the Parents’ Club upcoming activities and how you can be involved.
What type of things does Parents’ Club do?
Parents’ Club organise a range of events throughout the year to bring some fun and community spirit to our children’s school experience, such as:
- Welcome Back event at the beginning of the year
- School Disco
- A sausage sizzle at the end of each term
- Family Fun Night
- Parents’ Social Nights
- Mother’s and Father’s Day stalls
- Annual Fun Run
- Afternoon teas for the new Foundation parents
- Charity morning teas
- Thank you lunch for the teachers
- Night Market/Fair
…as well as some helpful services such as managing lost property and holding second hand uniform stalls.

School Council Overview
The School Council consists of 8 parent representatives, 3 Department representatives, and 1 community representative for the school community and the Principal as Executive Officer. The council meets at least twice each term, with at least eight meetings held in any year.
Sub-Committees of School Council are:
- Building and Grounds
- Communication and Marketing
- Education
- Finance
- Parents’ Club
Parents/Carers are encouraged to become members of School Council and its sub-committees. By attending these meetings, parents/carers can actively participate in strengthening McKinnon Primary School.
Parents/Carers are welcome to attend meetings as observers, unless a meeting has been declared closed by the Council.
