It has been wonderful having all our students back together and learning at school. The feeling amongst students and staff has been extremely positive as we all transition back to on-site learning altogether.

Next week students will be reflecting on and sharing any specific elements of home learning that worked well for them in regards to their learning so we can look at how we can incorporate some of these ideas into their classroom learning.

Students have been enjoying the school grounds again at recess and lunchtimes and in particular the new Adventure Island play area.

As we come closer to the end of such an extraordinary, “once in a lifetime” term, we would just like to say a big thankyou to all of the teachers and the Education Support staff for their significant contributions and the incredible flexibility they have shown to meet the changing needs of our students. They continue to work hard, reflect and refine what they do and make a difference to the community they work with.

A reminder that the final day of Term Two is Friday 26th June.

Early dismissal will be at the following times:

We look forward to welcoming you all back on Monday 13th July – the first day of Term Three. We are in a time of ever-changing circumstances and we will keep you posted with any changes to procedures as soon as we have new information.

You will have all received your child’s report last Friday and have the opportunity to take part in the Parent-Teacher Interviews in the final weeks of this term.

We would now like to invite you to complete a survey seeking your feedback around the new style of reports offered this term. We really value your time in completing this survey and are counting on your feedback.

Thank you to parents and teachers who have already participated in the Parent Teacher Interviews for June 2020. The final two days of these interviews will take place on Monday 22nd and Tuesday 23rd June between 3:45-4:45pm. If you would still like to book in a time please log in to Compass (ensure you are logged in as a parent) to view and book times.

Remember these interviews will be held online using Microsoft Teams.

To ensure the process is streamlined for everyone:

  • Be kind to the teachers by sticking to allocated times
  • Respect other parents by not going over and taking up others’ allocated times
  • Wait for the teacher to call you on TEAMS
  • Make an alternative time to meet with the teacher if you need longer to speak

In the June School Council meeting we:

  • set the date Monday 17th August at 6pm for our Annual General Meeting and we extend the invitation to all members of our community to attend
  • finalised hirers’ agreements for Term Two and reviewed Jellis Craig sponsorship request for suspension until further notice
  • discussed the new Kiss and Go area and its associated safety benefits and reduction to congestion.
  • formed the new McKinnon PS 90th Anniversary Celebration sub-committee, co conveners are Rebecca Newboult and Natasha Hosein

We want more parents to join the sub-committees of School Council. Please look at the different sub-committees below and consider joining one of these groups. Below are the upcoming Term Three dates, however you can find all meeting dates for the rest of the year on the Compass Calendar.  If you would like to join one of these groups please send an email to with the sub-committee in the subject and we will forward it to the right convener. We look forward to welcoming more of you at these meetings in the future.
