A very big thank you to our wonderful parents who provided such a delicious and thoughtful World Teacher’s Day morning tea for all the staff at McKinnon Primary. There was such a variety of different foods and treats we all felt very special. The teachers would like to thank the Parents Club for organising the morning tea this year in such unique circumstances. We all really appreciate all the support you give our school.

Today the school community again showed huge support for the Daniel Morcombe Foundation. ‘Day for Daniel’ is a significant event for our school and community and reminds us all of the importance of keeping safe and how to make good decisions when we are feeling unsafe. Thank you to all students and parents for their generosity and recognition of the event by dressing in red.

Last Tuesday night we welcomed over seventy parents to our 2021 Foundation information night held online on ‘Zoom’. The Foundation Team and staff presented and showcased all the wonderful programs that are available at McKinnon Primary. Thanks to the staff and parents who attended.

Literature is so vital to our wellbeing, education and enjoyment and it is with great pleasure we celebrate Book Week in 2020! Students will be able to participate in class and at lunchtime with a range of different events that highlight why books, reading and stories can bring us all together. On Friday we will finish with a Book Week Dress Up Day and a ‘Booknic’ event near the library. We look forward to the Dress Up Day and please remember that while students can be in full character or costume, it can be as simple as a hat or special item that represents the books we love!

School will be closed next Tuesday 3rd November for the Melbourne Cup Public Holiday.

2021 ENROLMENTS and Departures

Have you got a foundation child you still need to enrol? Great news we are ready to accept that enrolment now, please send to the office as soon as possible.

If you are planning on leaving Mckinnon Primary in 2021, it would be greatly appreciated if you could notify the school as soon as possible.

Today is the final day for class placements requests. Request must include specific learning needs your child has and needs to be considered. All requests must be in writing and emailed to the school’s emailed by Friday 30th October with Class Placement 2021 in the subject line.

A reminder that our SunSmart policy commenced at the beginning of September. Students are asked to wear their SunSmart hats for all outdoor activities. We will be enforcing our ‘NO HAT NO PLAY’ policy from the beginning of Term 4. Therefore children are asked to bring their hats (making sure they’re clearly named) each day this term.

Hope you all have a great weekend,

Simone, Suzanne, Chris and Andrea
