District Swimming, Gymnastics and Rugby

We must thank the committed staff who work so hard to provide a positive and enjoyable experience for our sports stars! This week we have had our gymnastics program running, along with visitors from the women’s rugby team, working with our students to discover new talents. We also had our school swim team attend the District Swimming Carnival.  A special congratulations to the district swimming team who were the runners up this year…. Go McKinnon!

District Lawn Bowls Success

Congratulations to our lawn bowls team who are the district champions! They played with focus and determination to win the competition.

Well done to the Year Six team.

Year Five Camp

Year Five had an amazing time at Camp Coonawarra near Bairnsdale last week. Students and staff were able to challenge themselves in action packed outdoor activities, including horse riding and canoeing. Thank you to the Year Five Team for their leadership of this event and additional staff Molly Sweeney, Brendan Lehmann, Kieren Reith, Sath Andradi, Hannah Macklow and David Zuker for attending.

Labour Day Holiday and Curriculum Day

A reminder of the upcoming Labour Day holiday. As this is a public holiday, the school will not be open on Monday 8th March or the following Monday due to the Curriculum Day (15.3.21). We hope you enjoy these days with your family.

Insights Permission on Compass and Class Representatives

All families in the school are required to complete three Insights on Compass. These Insight (permissions) are valid for the whole year. Please note that at any time you are able to modify this status and remove or add any permission. The insights permissions cover media & photography, class lists contact details and local/walking excursions. The class list is especially important for your parent class representative as we cannot give your details out to the class representative unless you have ticked the box on the Insights permission on Compass.

Thank you to the parents who have volunteered their time to be the parent class representative. The class teachers are currently confirming their class representative and we are hoping to be able to distribute the class contact lists by the end of next week. Thank you to everyone who has already completed the Insight permissions.

Parent Club

Parent Club held their AGM last week on the 19th February. Rebecca Newboult will continue as President and Robyn Leister was elected into the Vice President role. We also have Alina Kopman continuing as the Treasurer and Diane Zapedowski has taken on the role of Secretary. The next meeting will be held at 9.15am Friday 19th March in the staffroom. Look forward to seeing our parent class representatives at the meeting along with any other interested parents.

At this meeting we will be planning what we would like to spend our fundraising on this year and plan social events for our community, working around the constraints of the large community numbers we have and ensuring we are COVID- safe.

2021 School Council

This year we have three nominees to fill three parent positions. This means there is no need for an election and the nominees become members of the 2021 school council.

Our successful nominees are Clement Yeung who will be serving a second term and two new members, Mohammad Shajan and Sainath Tavate. Our first meeting of the 2021 School Council is at 6pm on 22nd March 2021.

Hope you all enjoy the long weekend,

Simone, Suzanne and David
