CRAZY COLOUR RUN
Congratulations to the Parents’ Club for a great school Crazy Colour Run. It was terrific to see so many parents at the event cheering on their children. The staff also enjoyed the day, all dressing in white with a touch of sparkle. It was also fun watching two of our parents Disco Dave and Sophie, DJing the event and having a great time building the excitement with the students. Special thanks to Lib Norton for all her hard work to make the day a huge success.

UPLOADING CHILDREN’S IMAGES TO SOCIAL MEDIA
We would like to remind parents NOT to upload photographs of other people’s children onto social media without the express permission of a parent/guardian of that child. The school publishes photos of children at events on our own sites e.g. Compass and our website which parents give permission via Compass. If you have uploaded images of other children without permission we ask that this photo be removed from such sites.
A NIGHT WITH MICHAEL CARR-GREIG
Thank you to the parents who attended this informative and entertaining night at McKinnon Secondary College. It was great to see so many McKinnon parents in the audience. Michael provided parents with fantastic, practical advice on how to raise adolescent children in the 21st century. He spoke about cybersafety, limiting screen time before bed, maintaining lines of communication with your child and encouraged all parents to assist their child/ren with finding their own SPARK.
BULLYING NO WAY DAY!
Bullying NO WAY Day was celebrated today on 20th March and has been a big focus this week at McKinnon Primary School. All students received wristbands and ribbons to mark this occasion and it will be a frequent reminder of the importance of standing up to bullying. Students discussed the importance of being an “up stander” not a “by stander” and all created speech bubbles of their feelings around wanting to stamp out bullying behaviours. Please stop and read these speech bubbles as you see them placed around the school.
Thank you to the SRC and other student leaders for their continual support of Bullying NO WAY Day!
ACCIDENTS HAPPEN
We would like to remind families that the Department of Education does not provide personal accident insurance or ambulance cover for students. Parents/carers of students, who do not have student accident insurance/ambulance cover, are responsible for paying the cost of medical treatment for injured students, including the cost of ambulance attendance or transport as well as any other transport costs.
It is the responsibility of parents/carers to look into their preferred options for insurance/ambulance cover. The Department cannot provide advice to families on the purchase of individual student accident policy or ambulance cover.
Private property brought to school by students, staff or visitors is not insured and the Department does not accept any responsibility for any loss or damage.
This can include mobile phones, calculators, toys, sporting equipment and cars parked on school premises. As the Department does not hold insurance for personal property brought to schools and has no capacity to pay for any loss or damage to such property, students and staff should be discouraged from bringing any unnecessary or particularly valuable items to school.
CLASS REPRESENTATIVES
Thank you to all the parents who have responded with their contact details to receive the class communications. Thanks also to the parents who have offered themselves to be the class representative. Apologies for the delay as we compile class distribution lists.
